But this journalist is also a tireless traveller. Desde que terminó sus estudios de periodismo, Roberto Leal (Alcalá de Guadaira, Sevilla, 1979) ha estado frente a las cámaras, aunque con 20 años también tuvo la oportunidad de descubrir la magia de la radio. Ahora, además de ser embajador de Air Europa y presentar Pasapalabra y El desafío, dirige junto con su mujer su propia productora de televisión, con la que han creado varios formatos para Telemadrid, Canal Sur o Atresplayer. Su última aportación televisiva es Nos vamos de madre ( Antena 3), un programa en el que viaje por todo el mundo junto a su madre. ¿Cuál es tu secreto para triunfar en televisión? No creo que haya ningún secreto o fórmula mágica. De ser así, todos los que nos dedicamos a esto trataríamos de replicarlo. Lo importante es que si alguien te para por la calle y habla contigo, que no sienta diferencia entre la persona que ve a través de la pantalla y la de enfrente. Tú decides: ¿Pasapalabra o El desafío? Es como tener que elegir entre mamá o papá, soy feliz en los dos. En Pasapalabra no dejo de aprender cada día rodeado de muchísimo talento y en El Desafío no paro de sorprenderme de la capacidad de sacrificio de los concursantes. Son programas muy diferentes aunque tienen algo en común que me encanta y es que ambos son muy familiares. ¿En cuál de estos concursos te atreverías a participar como concursante y por qué? Pues la verdad es que me encanta el deporte y soy bastante competitivo, así que si tuviera que elegir en cuál participar, lo haría en El Desafío. Aunque también te digo que en el momento de la apnea lo pasaría fatal. ¡Soy de secano! ¿Qué me respondes si decimos eso de ‘Tu cara me suena’? [Risas] Pues oye, he ido ya tres veces como invitado (haciendo de Palito Ortega, La Cabra Mecánica y de Andy y Lucas). No me podría ganar la vida como cantante, pero le pongo toda la actitud del mundo. Digamos que si no fuese por la voz, me podría haber dedicado a esto. ¿Cuál es el desafío al que todavía no te has enfrentado? A muchos, especialmente los que te pone la vida por delante cuando vas cumpliendo años y tus hijos también. La vida no deja de ser maravillosa, pero es un desafío constante mucho más real que la propia televisión. ¿Qué supone para ti ser embajador de Air Europa? Todo un honor. Tengo grandes amigos en la compañía y me siento como en casa. ¿Cómo sueles pasar el tiempo a bordo? Me gusta aprovechar las horas de vuelo para darle un empujón a alguna de las lecturas que tengo pendientes. He acabado y empezado muchos libros en los vuelos de la casa. Tu próximo destino es… Aún no lo tenemos claro pero seguramente alguno de playa, sol y paz, quizás al otro lado del Atlántico. His latest television contribution is Nos vamos de madre (Antena 3), a programme which sees him travelling around the world with his mother. What's your secret to success in television? I don't think there is any secret or magic formula. If there were, all of us who work in this field would be trying to replicate it. The important thing is that if someone stops you on the street and talks to you, they don't feel any difference between the person they see on screen and the person in front of them. You decide: Pasapalabra or El Desafío? It's like having to choose between mum or dad, I'm happy with both. In Pasapalabra, I'm constantly learning every day surrounded by so much talent, and in El Desafío, I never cease to be amazed by the contestants' capacity for sacrifice. They are very different programmes, though they share something that I love, in that they're both very family-oriented. Which of these competitions would you dare to take part in as a contestant and why? Well, the truth is that I love sport and I'm quite competitive, so if I had to choose which one to take part in, I'd go for El Desafío. Although I must admit that when it came to the apnoea challenge, I'd have a terrible time. I'm a landlubber! What would you say if we said, “Tu Cara Me Suena”? [Laughs] Well, I've been on the show three times as a guest (impersonating Palito Ortega, La Cabra Mecánica and Andy y Lucas). I couldn't make a living as a singer, but I put my heart and soul into it. Let's just say that if it weren't for my voice, I could have made a living from this. What challenge have you not yet faced? Many, especially the ones that life throws at you as you get older and your children do too. Life is still wonderful, but it's a constant challenge that's much more real than television itself. What does being an Air Europa ambassador mean to you? It's an honour. I have great friends in the company and I feel right at home. How do you usually spend your time on board? I like to take advantage of the flight time to catch up on some of my reading. I've finished and started many books on flights. Your next destination is... We're not sure yet, but it will probably be somewhere with beaches, sun and peace, perhaps on the other side of the Atlantic.
