Washington plays the Moorish general and commander-in-chief of the Venetian army, while Gyllenhaal is Iago, the antagonist, an ambitious and manipulative lieutenant who tries to convince him that his wife has been unfaithful. With minimalist scenery and contemporary costumes, and directed by Kenny Leon, winner of several Tony awards, they are joined by Molly Osborne as Desdemona.
